vactrol patch cables — the bulges toward the ends of these cables are a coupled LED and photoresistor, pointed directly at each other and surrounded by heat-shrink tubing. this creates a ‘vactrol’ which converts light into resistance, forming a a very natural rise-and-fall envelope when patched between the controller module and a synthesis circuit.
